Why SatoshiMacro exists

Most Australian trading content is written by affiliate marketers who've never placed a real trade in their lives. Every "best broker" list is ranked by whoever pays the highest commission. Australian traders deserve better than that.

Founder & Chief Analyst
Sydney-based. Former proprietary derivatives trader. Founder of Digital Empire Pty Ltd. 15+ years in institutional finance, SEO, and AU fintech content. Tamil-Australian. I built this site because I got tired of reading broker reviews written by people who clearly had never opened a real account.

My background

I spent my early career as a proprietary derivatives trader, where I learned how professional traders actually think about markets. The retail trading world operates in a completely different information environment. One shaped by broker marketing budgets and affiliate commissions, not fundamentals.

For the last 15 years I've run Digital Empire Pty Ltd, a Sydney-based SEO consultancy. I've seen behind the curtain of how trading and finance content gets ranked, monetised, and distributed. That's a mixed blessing . I understand the game, but I'm also rarely surprised by how cynical the content ecosystem has become.

SatoshiMacro is my attempt to combine both: institutional analytical rigour with modern content that actually reaches Australian traders who need it.

What we cover

Three verticals, all relevant to Australian retail traders:

  • Forex & CFD brokers . ASIC-regulated options, spreads, execution quality, platforms, AU deposit methods
  • Prop trading firms . FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers and others. Challenge structures, payout reliability, tax treatment
  • Crypto & tax . AU exchanges (Swyftx, CoinSpot, Binance AU), plus the complete ATO crypto tax landscape

How we make money (and why that matters)

Full transparency: SatoshiMacro earns affiliate commissions when readers open accounts with brokers, exchanges, or prop firms we link to. I'm not pretending otherwise.

But here's the critical difference: I only accept affiliate partnerships with providers I'd recommend to a friend. If a broker has terrible execution or dodgy regulation, I don't sign up for their affiliate program, and I don't review them positively just to get paid. You can see the full list of current partners and our methodology.

If you find a review on this site that feels like it's selling rather than analysing . Email me. I'll take another look.

Our review methodology

Every broker and exchange review follows a consistent framework:

  1. Regulation check . ASIC primary. FCA, CySEC, SEC as secondary validation.
  2. Real spread testing . Not marketing material. Checked at open, mid-session, close.
  3. Platform depth analysis . MT4, MT5, cTrader, proprietary. Real usage testing.
  4. AU-specific checks . PayID, Osko, AUD base accounts, local support hours.
  5. User feedback . Reddit, Trustpilot, ProductReview.com.au, forex forums.
  6. Tax treatment guidance . Because pre-tax profit isn't what you actually keep.
